Launch of the ANIMATE project, funded by German Cancer Aid
As part of the project ‘Impact of a tailored intervention on medication literacy for patients with oral anticancer therapy (ANIMATE)’, the Universities of Bonn and Cologne are jointly developing and evaluating digital training programmes for patients on the correct use of oral cancer medicines. German Cancer Aid is funding the project with more than €370,000 over the next three years. From the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Bonn, Prof. Dr Ulrich Jaehde is acting as project leader and pharmacist Marlene Falk as a research assistant on the project.
PhD Defense of Julia Thevissen
On 20 April 2026, Julia Thevissen successfully defended her dissertation entitled 'Interprofessional, risk-adapted medication management in older patients with cancer (IrMa)'. The whole team of the Clinical Pharmacy Department congratulates her on this achievement and thanks her for the wonderful time we have spent together.
Final workshop of the SafetyFIRST study in Bonn
On 20 March 2026, the final workshop of the nationwide SafetyFIRST study – funded by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and conducted by the Universities of Erlangen and Bonn – took place at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) in Bonn. Our department played a key role in the study as a centre of expertise. Over 50 participants engaged in lively discussions about the sometimes surprising results and the implementation of interprofessional intervention strategies to improve medication safety for patients undergoing oral anticancer therapy. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved for their commitment!
4 Presentations at the German Cancer Congress 2026
Wolfgang Fehrmann, Marlene Falk, Lars Wismar and Ulrich Jaehde presented the latest research results from the working group's oncology projects at the 37th German Cancer Congress from 18 to 21 February 2026 in Berlin. The audience showed great interest in all four presentations!
